Budgets across all client sectors have been affected by the economic turbulence caused by the pandemic. While some have taken advantage of the low interest rates, other clients have held back on projects which has caused some A/E/C firms to focus their efforts on federal government opportunities. As the world’s largest consumer of goods and services, the US federal government has plenty of opportunities for design and construction but finding an “in” can be daunting.

Additionally, the Biden Administration’s priorities could impact government contracting as it relates to climate change, cybersecurity, economic recovery, and national security. How can the A/E/C industry prepare for these changes?

Join SMPS Northern New England for an event focused on the trends for government contracting with a spotlight on federal work. Hear from government officials on how small and large firms can work for their agencies and how federal funds may be directed to new priorities. This timely event will be moderated by Maine’s Procurement and Technical Assistance Center Director, Ken Bloch, who has worked as both a government representative and a defense contractor.

    Speakers include:

    • Alan Brigham, Economic Development Representative, US Department of Commerce
    • Chris Thomas, PE, Facilities Engineering Acquisition Division, Public Works Department Maine, NAVFAC, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
    • Dave Pease, Program Manager, NH PTAC
    • Jerry Smith, Small Business Specialist, US General Services Administration

**Registration will close at 3pm on March 16.
