    Calling all Professional Services Marketers!

    SMPS Northern New England is thrilled to offer a full day of educational programming for junior- to mid-level marketers looking to enhance their skills and take their careers to the next level!

    The program will kick-off with a keynote address from Yellow Light Breen, President & CEO of the Maine Development Foundation, and then feature educational programming centered around the Domains of Practice for Professional Services Marketing from four of our chapter’s own Certified Professional Services Marketers (CPSMs). The program will include lunch, plus a career panel at the end of the day, followed by a cocktail/networking hour.

    ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

    Keynote Speaker

    Yellow Light Breen, Keynote Speaker, President & CEO of Maine Development Foundation
    Yellow's passsion is promoting economic and educational opportunity for all Mainers regardless of geography or background. He became the CEO of Maine Development Foundation (MDF) in August 2015. In his role, he develops strategic direction, integration, and partnerships across MDF's mission and programs. Yellow is a sought-after public speaker with a diverse background in business, public policy, and law. He spent twelve years as an executive at Bangor Savings Bank, overseeing strategic planning, marketing, community development and charitable activities - among other responsibilities. Prior, he was a senior official at the Maine Department of Education and an advisor to Independent Governor Angus King. Yellow was born and raised in rural, central Maine, a product of Maine public schools, and earned undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University. He has been an active volunteer in many education and economic development efforts, including the boards of the Maine Community Foundation and Educate Maine. He lives in Holden and loves to hike, swim, and ski with his wife and children.

    Katy Hews, FSMPS, CPSM - Senior Principal, Marketivity Inc. 
    Work Your Research Magic! 
    Katy Hews is a senior marketing professional with 40 years’ experience in A/E/C marketing. She is currently a Senior Principal with Marketivity Inc. and a strategic marketing consultant with the Hews Company, a fourth generation family-owned manufacturer and distributor of truck mounted construction equipment throughout Northern New England. From her experience, Katy knows that research permeates every aspect of a marketing professional's role. In her session, she will review the basics of marketing research: why it's conducted, foundations for success, and methodologies to employ. Attendees will take away the ability to conduct research on client trends and challenges, key competitors, and upcoming programs and projects that will inform their companies' growth and expansion.

    Jen Andrews, CPSM - Director of Marketing, Woodard & Curran
    How to Lead a SWOT Analysis & Turn it into an Actionable Plan
    You’ve probably heard of a SWOT Analysis, and you’ve maybe even participated in one … but Jen's session will walk you through how and why to uncover your firm’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and then give you practical applications for how to use the analysis to feed your strategy. If your firm has never done a SWOT Analysis, this will help give you the tools to be able to facilitate one, putting you in the driver’s seat during the critical process of strategic planning! Jen has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications. She is responsible for directing Woodard & Curran's strategic marketing efforts, including proposals, branding, event management, market research and content marketing. 

    Anne Weidman, CPSM - Director of Community Engagement, JSA Design and Access Navigators
    What's Your Golf Course?
    A non-golfer, Anne explores the art and science of finding clients in unexpected places. This session will encourage you to find ways to leverage your own personal skills and interests to build solid relationships with decision makers across New England. Are you tired of feeling stuck in the corner at networking events? Attendees are sure to leave with a fresh new approach to business development. Anne Weidman is the Director of Community Engagement for JSA Design and Access Navigators where she tracks trends in senior living, health care and higher education. 

    Jennifer Booth, CPSM - Sales Manager, Haley & Aldrich
    The Elements of a Great Proposal
    Jennifer Booth is a sales manager at Haley & Aldrich, a geotechnical and environmental engineering firm with offices nationwide. In her role, she is responsible for leading the development of one-to-one client communications such as proposals, interview materials, and presentations for the Buildings & Infrastructure business unit. She also helps technical teams across the country with capture strategy planning. Jenn earned her CPSM in 2013 and was president of the Northern New England chapter from 2013-2014. In 2017, she earned her Foundation level certification from the Association for Proposal Management Professionals. A lover of music and the outdoors, Jenn lives in New Hampshire with her husband and five-year-old son.
